Kevin Ford: From Burger King Veteran to Homeowner, Inspiring a Global Community
Kevin Ford, a dedicated long-time employee of Burger King, recently achieved his dream of homeownership, thanks to the generosity of people worldwide who were inspired by his remarkable work ethic. In December, Ford shared an update on TikTok and Instagram, sharing the exciting news of his new home in Western Nevada.
In his video, Ford emotionally expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to his success, saying, “I’m trying to get through without crying, but I wanted to show you something, something you made possible. I know it’s not a mansion, but it’s mine.” He then proceeded to give viewers a tour of his three-bedroom, two-bathroom house located in Pahrump, Nevada.
Ford’s life took a turn in June 2022 when a viral video highlighted his dedication to his job at Burger King, having never missed a shift in 27 years. His employer, HMSHost, recognized his commitment with a gift that included a Starbucks reusable tumbler, Reese’s candy, pens, and other items. Ford’s heartfelt response to this gesture garnered significant attention online, with many believing he deserved more.
In response to the overwhelming support, Ford’s daughter, Seryna, initiated a GoFundMe campaign in his honour, which has since raised nearly $450,000. A significant portion of these donations went towards fulfilling Ford’s dream of homeownership.
Expressing his gratitude in the video, Ford said, “I want to thank everyone all around the world for what you’ve done for me, something I have never thought would be possible for me: homeownership. Now my kids and my grandkids have someplace to come visit me.”
Ford concluded the video by showcasing his outdoor deck, kitchen, and living room, highlighting the tranquil surroundings of his new home. He also mentioned his aspiration to open a “little restaurant” in the future, emphasizing his continuous planning for a bright future.
Ford’s GoFundMe campaign continues to receive donations, with many individuals contributing $27 in honour of his remarkable 27-year tenure at Burger King. Reflecting on his extraordinary journey, Ford expressed disbelief at the support he received, saying, “When I try to think of how I feel, it’s very difficult because this is unbelievable. It still feels like a dream that this is happening to anybody, let alone me.” He encourages others to find inspiration in his story and believes that the world’s kindness to a stranger like him can restore faith in humanity.
